If
you’re looking for information on Slovenia or the
Slovene National Benefit Society, your first stop should be the SNPJ Slovenian
Heritage Center. The Heritage Center houses an extensive library of over
2,000 volumes available for use during a visit to the center. |
In addition to the SNPJ PROSVETA
and Voice of Youth publications, the Heritage Center also archives a collection
of Slovenian koledars (almanacs published by Slovenska Iszeljenska
Matica — SIM) and Rodna Gruda magazines (the Slovenian emigrants’
magazine), a number of periodicals and unique reference materials, and
telephone books — new and updated for 2002 — which cover the entire country
of Slovenia. The Heritage Center even has a complete listing of all cell
phone numbers in use throughout Slovenia.
While
many of these resources are published only in Slovenian, a good many others
are published in English, and still others are offered in both the Slovenian
and English languages. And if you’re looking to hone your Slovenian language
skills, a Slovenian-English dictionary may be purchased at the SNPJ Slovenian
Heritage Center gift shop.
